Roots And Fruits (Part 3)
by Olawale Ogunsola

"[7]“For there is hope for a tree, If it is cut down, that it will sprout again, And that its tender shoots will not cease.
[8]Though its root may grow old in the earth, And its stump may die in the ground,
[9]Yet at the scent of water, it will bud And bring forth branches like a plant." Job 14.

The above is the truth about the life of any tree, especially a fruit tree. Fruits come last in discussing the matter of a tree. Whatever happens to a tree may not be its end so long the roots remain intact. The root dictates the life or death of any tree.

Verse seven of the above-quoted Scriptures declare that the hope of a tree to survive is in its roots. If the roots are destroyed, the hope is gone.

No matter the age of the roots, as soon as it is in contact with water, life will return to the stump if the tree was cut down
It means that the tree will begin a new life.

The survival of the trunk of a tree will guarantee the fruitfulness of the tree. a dead tree cannot have leaves or fruits. In other words, no roots, no prosperity or success in a tree.

So it is with a man. That is the reason why man is likened to a tree. He could not afford to disconnect from his source and survive. A normal man who wants to succeed in life and in the right way needs to be linked to the Living water.

It is then right for the Lord to counsel the succeeding leader of God's people, Joshua, thus, "[8]This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success." Joshua 1.

The truth of the matter of a man's prosperity and success rests in his being well-rooted in the Lord and the word of God that gives life. Some people think they can arrive in life without the Lord. One thing about them is that, they operate in the word of God, directly or indirectly.

The Lord God Who created man in His image does not change. He remains the same, although many do not know Him, He is waiting for them to return to Him for better fellowship. Whether they do this or not, they remain vessels in His hand doing things through Him. A very good example was King Cyrus in the book of Isaiah Chapter forty-five in verses 1-5. Although he did not know the Lord He supported him to achieve greatness for His glory in the lives of His people.

Beloved, to have success and prosper in your ways (bear fruits), be hooked to your roots in the Lord. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
