Be Fruitful (Part 1)
by Olawale Ogunsola

Genesis 1:28
"[28]Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” Genesis 1. NKJV

The above-quoted verse started with the word "then". This implies that certain things have preceded the statement that begins with this word.

What happened before God commissioned mankind to carry out the given assignment? Provisions! God had provided all that mankind, represented by Adam, needed to execute his official assignment. He has his source in the Lord his God. He made mankind according to His picture and attributes (Genesis 1:26-27). He has been endowed with the full ability to function well in the work committed to him.
So, the man has no excuses to fail.

As a test of his ability, the first assignment given to Adam was naming those things created, beasts and birds, by God which he did successfully(Genesis 2:19-20).

After that, the Lord assigned mankind to be fruitful and multiply. He expected them to function by bringing forth fruits in the image and likeness of God, which he carried at the time of giving the instructions.

At the end of the day, disobedience distorted the picture and attributes of God that man possessed. When he continued his work of fruitfulness and multiplication, he ended up bearing fruits in his own distorted and corrupted image and likeness(Genesis 5:3).

Beloved, have you put on the new image of the Lord Jesus Christ to become a new creation? Do you now display the picture and the attributes of God through Jesus Christ? If "yes" is the answer, I congratulate you. If not, you need to put on the new man, Jesus Christ, and forsake the old man, Satan, and his work. Determine to live the rest of your life in Christ and for Him.

As a person who has Christ in him, are you fruitful? Do you bring forth good fruits to please the Lord your God? If God the Father is fruitful and the Lord Jesus Christ is, as they have always been, with the help of the Holy Spirit in you, you have no excuses not to be fruitful. Do you populate the Kingdom of Christ as much as you are empowered? Does the Kingdom of Darkness suffer losses because of the fruits you are bearing?

Begin to bear fruits. Begin to bear good and pleasant fruits. Bear more fruits so that the Lord will be able to rejoice over you and reward you at the end of your journey in this world. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
