Lips Control
by PamFord Davis

Hey, how's that diet thing going?

Ooops; sorry I brought that up. I understand; that’s a sore subject. This is July; maybe losing weight was one of your New Years’ resolutions. Most of us have good intentions; we know the advantages of controlling our weight.

To gain hips control I must first achieve lips control. What passes through my lips eventually takes up residence on my hips. There’s a problem; weight control begins with self control. I admit it; for me that’s far easier said than done. The word dieting begins with 3 little letters; die.

We wrongly believe we’ll simply die without that extra serving or slice of pie. I'd just die if I went to that all you can eat buffet and skip second servings. It’ll be the death of me if I have to limit myself to smaller portions. Give up sweets? You’ve got to be kidding!

No wonder I fail when I decide to go on a diet. I'm in a negative frame of mind before I even begin.

It's high time I switch to a positive mind set. Good nutrition is a life style not a death sentence. Slim or pudgy; my body is not my own. Paid in full; God holds the deed.

“You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body (1 Corinthians 6:19b-20 ESV).”
