Some Proof that Jesus is the Son of God
by Tonja Taylor

Jesus reveals He is the Son of God.

Many, including the centurion and others at the cross (Matt. 27:54), recognized Jesus as the Son of God. The Master also declared Himself to be that One (by His words, and His unselfish actions!), and was obedient to do this (John 12:49). In the ultimate agony on the cross, the agape Love of God flowed from Jesus the Messiah with the declaration, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do (Luke 23:34). Such surrendered trust in His final words on the cross also declared Him to be the Son of God, as He called to God His Father to receive His spirit!

Jesus becomes known as a minister.

Jesus’ family, co-workers (for He worked; He was a carpenter before He went into full-time ministry), and community; those who knew Him, were unimpressed with Him, until He was anointed to teach and preach and work miracles. They were astonished at His words, when, at age 30, God promoted Him to “pulpit ministry,” and He began to teach in the synagogues. Before that, He’d lived in the same house with many brothers and sisters, none of whom knew about His supernatural destiny. However, when God anointed Him to become a traveling minister, He became—and is—the world’s ultimate catalyst for positive change.

Jesus' words carry His authority.

Soldiers, Pharisees, and the many others who heard LORD Jesus speak realized in their cores that the words coming from Jesus were not the words of a normal man, but the words of God, spoken with authority that only He can give. These words of authority; these Spirit-words, interrupted their normal though processes and traditions and fears, and caused the hearers to have revealed to them a better, much higher way of living. Although Jesus illustrated His teachings with ordinary things, such as agriculture, His Father helped Him connect deeply with His audience, to make known to them the path of Life.

Christ knows all the bad, and forgives us anyway!

Sinners were drawn to Jesus, never because He compromised, but because He told them the truth about sin, and graciously offered forgiveness, inspiring them with the hope of a cleansed, fulfilling life that only He can give. He is Love! He came to seek and save that which was lost (Luke 19:10), so much so that He laid down His life for us all (John 3:15-17; Romans 5:6), forever shedding the perfect arrangement He had in eternity, to come down and get intensely, intricately intertwined in the lives of sinful man--but without sin--to become our High Priest; to redeem and renew us, and restore us once again to our Creator, our Father God.

Christ lived as a man, but never sinned.

God, the Holy One of Israel, our Creator Elohim, is the Father of Jesus Christ. Jesus has no sinful bloodline from the seed of the fallen first Adam. He was born of the virgin Mary, and the Holy Spirit, Who overshadowed her and created Jesus in her womb. That is why Christ Jesus is the only sinless Man, and the only One Who could ever have paid the price for humankind to be born again into the new life Christ offers. All humans but Christ Jesus are born into sin; have a tainted bloodline.

Christ did miracle no one had ever seen.

No man can do miracles, except the LORD Jesus Christ, through the Holy Spirit of God, Who lives in true Believers. People are vessels anointed and appointed for Christ the LORD to work through. When Christ Jesus came and God the Father appointed Him to minister, baptizing Him in the Holy Spirit, then He started doing miracles that were unheard of, never seen before. Some examples were changing water into wine, at the wedding at Cana; causing Peter’s net to be so instantly full of fish that he had to get help to haul in the catch; and healing many of various diseases, as well as raising the dead!

Jesus correctly prophesied the doom of three cities where He had preached.

Christ taught and preached and performed miracles in these three cities for a season (Luke 8:40). But most of the people in these areas chose the way of the world, being influenced by people from many other regions who came through the area to sell things, instead of repentance, and did not listen to Jesus’         warnings. They did not fully turn to Him. With a heavy heart, He warned them of impending doom. Jesus’ prophecy came true when, about 65 years after He was born, Roman soldiers invaded and devastated the country, killing or enslaving the residents.

Jesus also prophesied that Jerusalem would be destroyed in 40 years.

The Jews in Jerusalem rejected Jesus as their LORD. Of course that greatly grieved Him (Luke 19:41-44), and He prophesied (saying only what His Father God told Him to say) specifically about the doom   of the Jews, just 40 years later. The Jews ignored Jesus’ warning and kept harassing the people who    loved Christ, even killing some of them, or wrongly putting them in jail. Although the Jews thought they could overcome Roman occupation, the ruler Titus sent armies, which battled which fought until the Jews were destroyed. So Jesus’ sad prediction came true in just one generation of exactly 40 years.

Jesus prophesied that the Jews would be scattered

Because the Jews rejected Him—thus opening the door to the enemy to kill, steal, and destroy—He sent His followers to witness to the rest of the world. In Luke 21:24, He prophesied the Jews would be killed   or taken as slaves into many other places, and that the city would be defeated until a certain time—when King Jesus returns! Since 1948, when Israel became a state, many Jews have returned to their homeland of Israel, as Ezekiel prophesied (Ezek. 36:33-35). King Jesus is coming very soon, for one of the signs is that many Jews would return to Israel!

Christ launched His kingdom not by dominating, but by dying on the cross.

Instead of dominating and killing others to establish His Kingdom—like Alexander the Great and Caesar did—Jesus our LORD, Who is Love (and so much more!) sacrificed Himself! He allowed Himself to be crucified so that His Kingdom would be established in and through our hearts and words and actions.  He willingly gave Himself to be killed on a cross to pay for our sins—for no person but Him could ever pay the sin tax, the price required to redeem mankind from the treason that brought the curse, that reversed the Blessing—and to restore the Blessing of His Kingdom to us Who would receive Him!

The Bible correctly foretold the accusations, crucifixion, and resurrection of our LORD Jesus.

The Bible is not only a Book of Miracles, but a Miraculous Book! The 66 books we learn from today was written by the Holy Spirit, as He influenced the hearts of many obedient men through the ages. He led many Old Testament prophets from 500-1500 years before Christ was born, to write about the Messiah, to prophesy the main events of His life. The New Testament was also supernaturally written by the Holy Ghost moving on the hearts of men who loved God, to record the works of Christ on earth, and otherwise validate the prophesies about Him.

Christ rose from the dead, proving He was the all-powerful Everliving LORD.

Jesus Christ is the Firstborn among many; the Pre-emminent One; the Resurrection and the Life! He is the only One Whose grave will forever be empty. He is not here, as the angel said, He is risen! He rose not only for Himself, but to give resurrection life to all who will believe in Him. While on earth, others were also raised to life again by His power, such as Lazarus, and Jairus’ daughter. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and as He says in the Word, we who believe in Him will have eternal life, meaning the true us--our spirits--will live forever with Him when we believe!

When Christ rose, He had a glorified body that could do amazing things.

Christ Jesus had a new body when He was resurrected. Although it might have seemed the same, He had the scars only He could bear, and although He could eat and drink like before, and His voice, recognized by Mary in the Garden after He was resurrected, seemed the same, His body was now glorified. This glorified state allowed Him to be translated, and also to pass through solid matter—like   when He surprised the disciples, especially Thomas, when He just appeared in the room where they were, without coming physically through the door as an unglorified person must.

Micah the prophet foretold by 500 years the city where Jesus would be born

No one but Jesus Christ has had the city of His birth recognized and named, hundreds of years before the birth! Yet, Bethlehem was named by the prophet Micah (Micah 5:2) 500 years before Jesus was born; named to be the city where our Savior would first appear in the flesh as the Christ Child! Although Mary      and Joseph lived in Nazareth, where she was very close to having her Son, a decree by the emperor forced them to have to journey to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born in the humblest of places—fulfilling prophecy.

Isaiah prophesied 800 years before Christ was born that He would be born of a virgin.

In Isaiah 7:14, God showed the prophet that LORD Jesus would be born of a virgin. This was four-fifths of a millennia before Christ was born! Exactly as predicted, Mary was visited by an angel who told her the good news that she was chosen to be the mother of the Savior. Mary agreed, thus giving the Holy    Spirit permission to overshadow her and cause the Messiah to be born of the Holy Father, keeping the bloodline of the seed pure. This had to be not only to fulfill prophecy, but so that Jesus Christ could be the true and only Savior and Advocate for all mankind.

The Bible foretold about 500 years before Christ's birth that He would be born.

Daniel, a Hebrew enslaved, yet serving in leadership in Babylon, studied the Scriptures and was given the revelation by God about the Messiah, and about the time of their captivity ending. He realized this about 500 years or 69 “weeks” (which is 69 sets of 7 days, or 483 years), before Jesus the Messiah came to      earth and was born of the virgin Mary! Daniel spent a lot of time in prayer, and accurately prophesied the time line of Jesus’ birth, by the Spirit of God helping Him to understand these things.

Daniel also foretold about Christ's death, about 900 years before Christ was born.

In Daniel 9:24, Daniel prophesied the Messiah would be killed first, then set up His Kingdom. In Psalm 22:16, David wrote that Jesus’ hands and feet would be pierced, indicating that Jesus our LORD would be crucified. This was very different than what the Jews thought through the ages, and even different that the disciples of Jesus thought. They had assumed that, once He was known as the Messiah, He would immediately set up His Kingdom and overtake the Roman rule. But instead, Jesus came to give His life as a ransom for (all), and to set up His Kingdom in our hearts!

Jesus is alive, and we can have a personal relationship with Him today!

Christ Jesus desires and provides a living, loving relationship to us—far from dead religion; so much more than a set of rules. He is God’s supreme Example of all that we will ever want or need! His Spirit lives forever, and in the hearts of all who believe in Him as Savior and LORD! He is the only One Who triumphed on earth and led a sinless life, so He could shed His pure blood for all who will believe in Christ to be with Him and the eternal Father forever! Jesus Who is God, Who is Love, is alive, continuously wooing the unsaved to Him, wherever He is invited (directly, or by the prayers of others for the unsaved).

Hallelujah!

But don't take my word for it. Search the Scriptures for yourself, and ask the LORD to reveal more Truth to you. He will!
