A close friend recently made an airplane trip from Europe to the states. Like many, her suitcase was lost at the arrival airport; misplaced luggage is always an inconvenience. None of us like to go without our clothes. Worrying wouldn’t help; calmly she began tracking her suitcase.
“For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is life not more than food, and the body more than clothing (Matthew 6:25 NASB).”
The search heightened as thoughts of packed medications and important paperwork filled her mind. Naturally, she was concerned; yet, she was not worried. That was the farthest thing from her mind.
She was confident because her heart and mind were stayed on God.
“Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and pleading with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:4-7 NASB).”
God is faithful. Her luggage was delivered to her door in the morning yesterday.
“The Lord’s acts of mercy indeed do not end, For His compassions do not fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness (Lamentations 3:22-23 NASB).”
