Beyond the Decor
by Asha John Beyond long strips of sparkling tinsel And glimmering lights on evergreen trees, Beyond red poinsettias, pretty bows and tassels And doors decked with lovely wreaths, Beyond Santas, sleigh bells, and candy canes Spice smells wafting the festive air, Beyond shiny decor on windowpanes And all the Christmas fanfare...
Is the glad tidings of the Saviour’s birth, Of God's own beloved Son In swaddling clothes, in a manger on earth O the wonder of Incarnation! His robe of majesty, He set aside To take the garb of mortal man To bridge the chasm, Jesus died, Between a holy God and sinful man.
Glad tidings of 'peace on earth' To those who know the God of peace, Of saving grace, of inestimable worth And mercy that does not cease.
Glad tidings of 'goodwill to men' From Bethlehem to Calvary It shall be so till Jesus comes again Even unto eternity.
