Lameness Of Mankind
by Olawale Ogunsola

In the book of the Acts of the Apostles in chapter three and verse two, it reads,
"[2]And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;"

The story of this man is a type of every man's situation and condition. It illustrates the true state of mankind, without any exemption.

Lame from his mother's Womb.
This is a sorry condition of a newborn baby. It is a source of family concern that draws the attention of all to the sad state of the child.

This points to the truth about mankind as expressed by King David, the second king to reign in the land of Israel. He declared in Psalm 51 that,
"[5]Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And sin, my mother conceived me."
He said this on 'behalf of' everyone born of a woman. Before conception, a man is corrupted. He was brought forth in iniquity from the womb.

BANNISHED
The lame man could not enter into the Beautiful Temple. He could not enter through the Beautiful Gate. He dared not because of his lameness. He was forbidden from doing so. The Beautiful Temple is not a place to assemble the lame. It is a place for those who are whole.

Does this rightly describe the situation of mankind generally? Yes, it does! Apostle Paul states in his instructions to the Romans in chapter three that,
"[23]for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,"

Sins are a reproach to individuals and nations. The Beautiful Temple is a place of glory that a lame man cannot enter. Sins prevent mankind from the glory of God. He cannot access it.

Lameness means no possibility of standing or walking. A spiritualy crippled or dead man cannot stand or walk before God because
"[23]the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6.

ATTENTION NEEDED
When the lame man saw the men of God, Peter, and John, he gave them his attention with the expectation of receiving something from them(verse 5). To God be the glory. They gave him what they had and he received it joyfully and he became a new man with positive testimonies(verses 6-8).

"[8]So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them—walking, leaping, and praising God." Acts 3.

This is the desire of the Lord God from all those who have chosen to be involved in walking with Him in glory (Genesis 17:1). They should do so blamelessly.

Beloved, have you been healed from your lameness? Have your legs received the strength to stand, walk, and leap for joy before God? Congratulations! Otherwise, you need to be cleansed from all filthiness that will prevent you from walking in glory with your Lord and Savior.

You can do this by simply inviting Jesus into your life and forsaking all your evil ways. Let Him reign in your life forever. Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
