Christian Parenting Priorities
by Adam Bennett As a Christian parent it can be difficult to prioritise time - especially when it comes to weighing up what ministries to be involved in. In recent years I have tried to be cautious about committing too much time and energy to serving in the church to the detriment of my family responsibilities. Occasionally I have felt I could and should be doing more. When I feel this way I am encouraged by the following words Paul wrote to Timothy: "I have been reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also." (1 Timothy 1:5 ESV) Paul acknowledged the strong influence Timothy's mother and grandmother had on his life and that his faith was part of his family inheritance. Just as my faith is partly attributable to the faithfulness of generations before me, I am reminded that the most valuable contribution I can make to God's kingdom may be through the faith of my children, grandchildren and beyond. That truth makes the process of prioritisation simpler. Copyright Adam Bennett 2009. More articles are available at http://godward-thoughts.blogspot.com/ Article Source: http://www.faithwriters.com |
