Evil Demands

by Olawale Ogunsola
9/05/2022 / Christian Apologetics

Thus speaketh Benhada, saying, "Although I have sent unto thee, saying, Thou shalt deliver me thy silver, and thy gold, and thy wives, and thy chicken;
Yet I will send my servants unto thee tomorrow about this time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away." 1 Kings 20:5-6.

These were the evil requests of king Benhadad of Syria from king Ahab of Israel. He confidently and boldly demanded these things from the head of God's people. If the requests, release of the silver, gold, wives and children were meet, what are the things left for the king of Israel? Note that he also concluded with, whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes."

How will the life of king Ahab and that of his servants be if they lose all their valuables to the one who demanded it?. They would have remained wretched for the rest of their lives, living a miserable life.

Initially, the king with fear, agreed to the first demand of the king of Syria, saying"My Lord, O king, according to thine saying, I am thine, and all that I have. "1 Kings 20:4.

That was how far king Ahab's ability and reasoning could carry him. That was his best in fear.

On the other hand, when he informed the elders of the land, they collectively encouraged king Ahab, "Hearken not unto him, nor consent."verse 8.

At last, king Ahab and the people of God in Israel defeated Benhadad, king of Syria and thirty two other kings with him. The Lord gave His people victory.

Hallelujah!

Beloved, do you know that as it was, so it is today?

Every Believer has his own Benhadad who wants to take away all things that are pleasant in his eyes. In other words, he wants to take away all "the desires of his eyes"(Ezekiel ); that is his joy.

Don't forget that king of Syria did not come but sent his servants, so it is with Believer's Benhadad.

WHO IS HE?
Satan is the ruler who wants to take away a Believer's full joy in the Lord. He is the thief who has come to kill, steal and destroy, John 10:10. Should a Christian allow him? No!

Do you know that when he first comes through his servants, the probability is high that he can yield in fear. He can surrender alone

FELLOWSHIP
It is very important to take fellowship very serious. This comes in two parts:
*Fellowship with the Lord, which is not only the first but most important. A Believer's closeness with God determines almost all things in his life. This guarantees real source of encouragement, support and power.
*Fellowship with other brethren should not be forsaken to experience Godly encouragement, support and love. Boldness comes from group faith and prayers.
THE SERVANTS.
Satan's servants that he sends to deprive Believer's of his joy are the world system, the flesh and sin.many times, they work hand in hand together to carry out their nefarious activities.

WISE COUNSEL.
As the elders of Israel counselled king Ahab, a Believer should not consent. The Holy Scriptures encourages us to resist the devil and he will run away from us. If king Benhadad ran away for king Ahab, Satan will flee if you resist him.

SALVATION MESSAGE.
In case you just "stumble"on this piece and you do not know your Creator or you have been so far deceived with one religion or the other, I am happy to inform you that TODAY is the appointed time to be reconciled with your Maker.
*Accept the truth that you are a sinner and cannot help yourself.
*Confess all your sins to the Lord Jesus Christ and ask Him to forgive you, He will surely do.
*Ask the Lord to occupy and control your heart forever.
*Request Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit to with you forever.
* Obtain a copy of the Holy Bible for daily reading and application for great benefits.
*Join an assembly of God's children where the Scripture is held in high esteem for fellowship and growth.

Stay blessed and prepared for the imminent coming of the Lord.
