Scripture Study: The Trinity

by Terrence Hatch
5/01/2009 / Bible Studies

Here is the Biblical case for the divinity of Jesus Christ, and the divine personality of the Holy Spirit. This study is important because if counters attacks from both secular and religious sources, and at the same time presents scriptural arguments that are not well-known. For example, the Biblical model that Christ is the Arm of God has been overlooked by most who write on this subject.

Note: Since a few may be unfamiliar with the timeline of the Bible, the ^ carot symbol indicates that a verse reference is from the Old Testament, and was written more than 400 years before Christ.

1. CHRIST'S IDENTITY IS A MYSTERY, YET CRITICALLY IMPORTANT

The God and Savior of Israel hides himself. [^Isaiah 45:15]
How God could become human is a great mystery. [I Timothy 3:16]
The relationship between God and Christ is a mystery. [Colossians 2:2-4]
Christ is mysterious concerning his own identity. [Matthew 16:20]
For Thomas, Christ's divine identity was a revelation from God. [John 20:27-29]
CAUTION! You will die in your sins if you believe wrongly concerning Christ's identity. [John 8:24-28]
WATCH OUT! Don't let anyone mislead you concerning Christ's divinity! [Colossians 2:8-10]
