Have you ever wondered what God is saying when you cannot hear him? Have you ever wondered what God is doing when you cannot see him? Have you ever wondered if he is too busy to answer your cry for help? Have you ever felt forgotten in this crazy little world we live in?
We all feel that way at times.
For whatever reason, there are times when God chooses to be silent. His purpose is not to punish us, but if so let it be. He is not too busy, and has not forgotten us.
Maybe the silence is what pushes us to dig deeper, like a growing plant in search of water. Maybe the answers are before our eyes, but we are too human to see what God is showing us. Maybe we are looking with our eyes instead of our heart. Maybe he just is not ready to reveal what he has been working on because the time has not yet come, or we are not be strong enough to handle it.
Experience tells us that it will be worth the wait, and that our impatience will only get in the way of what he plans to do with us. We long to hurry him along, but end up feeling frustrated.
When all is said and done, and our relationship with him has deepened, our desires for our own lives will match his desires. True happiness and contentment lies in resting in his will, in his hands, on his path, in his time.
So, we wait. And believe. And trust.
Psalm 130: 5 I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I put my hope.
Dueteronomy 31:8 - The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.
And with that, we can leave all of our doubts behind.
