About Getting Up Early For Devotions
by Marijo Phelps 11/10/2009 / Poetry
These thoughts came to me while I was having a little "pity party" about the house being cold and the hour being EARLY and wanting to snuggle deeper and stay in bed
About Getting Up Early For Devotions....
I waken at 6:23 and
Think of the house being cold.
Fifty-eight degrees seems awful
Though I know early is Your GOLD.
I snuggle buried deep
In blankets piled high
It matters not that I have slippers, robe
I hardly even try
Then I think of those in chains
Who suffer much for You
No plush carpet or spare bedroom
But wet moldy floors and dungeon darkness too
Help me oh Lord to recollect
Times not so long ago
When I was imprisoned in my sin
And Jesus I didn't know
Help me be get of bed
In early AM too
Because I cherish the time I'm free
To spend with my Friend so true.
