Freedom of Choice
by Pam Ford Davis 12/31/2009 / Devotionals
We cling to our rights and grasp freedom of choice. The demands of others are cast aside in our demonstration of independence. Our parents challenged us to stand on our own two feet; and the instructions shaped our lives. We believe we hold the final authority in decisions concerning what is best for us. We will look at all sides of the issue and make our choice. We will not allow anyone to make that choice for us.
The Lord has the final word on choices. "Just as they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delights in their abominations, so I will choose their delusions, and bring their fears on them; because when I called, no one answered, when I spoke they did not hear; but they did evil before My eyes, and chose that in which I do not delight (Isaiah 66:3b-4 NKJ)." We have the freedom of choice. Choosing our own ways leads to judgment; choosing to follow God leads to lasting freedom.
