Do you ever wish you could find a place to hide? Most of us, if honest, would like to at least pull the covers over our heads and retreat as a hermit. The daily grind or onslaught of trouble overwhelms us. We become discouraged, frightened and insecure. Is there a place we can turn to for safety? Will we find shelter in the storms of life?
Towers are often used in fairy tales as places to hold prisoners. Poor Rapunzel hopelessly looked down at the world below. Her long flowing hair would become her way of escape from the tower. If a tower could hold her securely as a captive, it can also serve as a place of protection. God alone provides shelter from raging storms. "The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our Refuge (our High Tower and Stronghold) Selah [pause, and calmly think of that] (Psalm 46:11 Amplified Bible)!" His shelter is only a prayer away. Run to His waiting arms.
