ACKNOWLEDGING GOD

ACKNOWLEDGING GOD

Proverbs 3

Does the work that you do acknowledge the kingdom of God? What is it that you do? Are you a housewife, a teacher, a mechanic, or a laborer assembling things, inspecting things or fixing things? Maybe you are a supervisor, a preacher or just a regular person, that does nothing special. You ask how can I acknowledge the kingdom of God in my job. When people look at you do they see a lazy person that tries to get out of anything they are asked to do, or do they see someone that although they may not like the task do it with enthusiasm, doing it to the best of your ability? When people are telling dirty jokes or not so clean stories do you stick around to hear the punch line, or because you don't want to offend them and laugh at their stories? Do they always see you reading a secular magazine or a Bible based article? When something goes good do you praise the Lord or just say something about how lady luck was watching over you this time? Your actions speak louder than your words. What are your actions saying?
Do you work to get another raise so you can buy more stuff and keep up with your neighbors or do you work to help others? Christ told the story of the rich man and Lazarus in Luke 16:19-31. He also told about the rich young ruler in Luke 18:18-24. He told about a camel going through the eye of a needle in Luke 18:25. And he wasn't talking about a sewing needle. He was talking about a small walking gate through the city wall. A camel could go through it but he had to be completely unloaded and crawl through on his knees, then be reloaded.
Look at Judas he carried the money bag for Jesus and his disciples. He heard everything that Jesus said and saw the miracles that Jesus did but he was so interested in getting more money he would not allow the spirit to change his life. He ended up selling Jesus to the religious crowd and then realized that the money didn't mean anything. What happens to the stuff we accumulate when we die? Job said naked I came into this world naked I shall go out, blessed be the name of the Lord.
We must realize that the Lord doesn't give us all this stuff so we can hold on to it but so that we can be a channel that people can see the Glory of God through us. He gives us good paying jobs so that we can help others not so that we can become rich. We place a very high value on gold but n heaven the streets are paved with it. The only thing that we will take to heaven is what we give away.

How are you acknowledging God in everything that you do?
