SANE WORDS IN AN INSANE WORLD

by willetta pilcher

Eph 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them

Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

Fellowship - to share common interests, goals, experiences, or views

Reprove - to speak to somebody in a way that shows disapproval of something he or she has done. Now that goes against a world view for sure. Christians are told (as are everyone for that matter) that we must never disapprove of the actions of another because it will damage their self-esteem. And yet the world doesn't live by that standard. They just expect it of everyone else.

For instance... recently Tiger Woods has been in the news. The world that professed to "love him" has crucified him. Granted, what he did was wrong but how many of his critics are living the same kind of lifestyle? They just haven't been found out yet.

I find it interesting that the news media will turn on someone who "falls" with the viciousness of a pack of wolves. They will criticize, tell all the dirty details, and pronounce them wrong and keep it up for weeks. But if a Christian says something about sin we are turned on with vengeance. How dare we criticize and judge someone... when in fact what we have done is to simply state the bible says....

Why? Could it be that the Spirit of God finds them out? And so they become defensive. It isn't so much that we have pointed them out but they are very aware of their own personal guilt and since they have no way to rid themselves of their guilt... short of admitting their wrong and repenting... they turn on the Christian.

We Christians need to understand... Just because the world tells us we must keep still and that we are judging and that we have no right etc is no reason for us to be silent. We have been silent too long! We have a mandate from a higher source than the world around us. When we stop letting them put us to silence we just might have more influence on this society than we ever dreamed.

Think about this... The disciples and early Christians were not silent. Act 2:46-46 "And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."

It is true... they were persecuted but didn't Jesus say that would happen? Mat 5:11-12 Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you." Joh 15:20-21 "Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me." Jesus did not leave us in the dark. He told it like it was/is.

What are we afraid of? Jesus said, Mat 5:14-16 "Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Is it because we are more concerned about ourselves than we are about their lost condition? Has Satan sold us the bill of goods that we 'don't know how to share... or that we don't know enough scripture... or that they aren't interested?' Satan is a liar and the father of lies... so shouldn't we be thinking the opposite of what he tells us.

None of us would have been saved if it were not for the courageous men and women that stood the test and came our victorious. Yes, some of them lost their lives but think of the souls that were saved as a result.

Some of our Service Men give their lives for us so that we may remain free in the USA. Think of the honor Heaven will announce if we give ourselves in service so that men and women may be free and spend eternity in Heaven instead of Hell.
