THE EAGLE

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.

A young eagle soars 100 to 500 feet above the ground and can pick a mouse out of a bunch of brush, dive at 120 mile per hour and catch it without breaking a bone in the body of the mouse. During a storm a young Eagle will fly up above the storm floating on the air currents where it is peaceful.

When an eagle gets old, tired and worn out he will fly to a high mountain and find a small cave that he can get into and be basically protected from everything. While he is in the cave he will pluck out all of his feathers, pull out his claws and beat his beak off on a rock. After he has broken off his beak whatever feathers he couldn't reach will fall out from not being able to eat. He then just sits there naked, hungry and defenseless. He gives it all up in hope of restoration.

After a while the feathers will grow back along with the claws and beak. At this point he is as strong and energetic as he was when he first started flying. His eyesight has been restored also, so that he can see everything from where he flies. He is completely restored.

What does this have to do with my life and me? I don't have any feathers to pluck, and claws to pull out or any beak to break off. Let's look at how the eagle compares to us and our relationship with God.

The eagle when he is old will find a small cave high on a mountain where he is able to get away from everything. When we become tired we need to find our prayer closet and get into it to get away from everything. We are to leave the cares of this world behind. I know that this is not always possible but get in there anyway. The eagle then starts plucking out his feathers. In our prayer closet we are to start plucking the sin out of our lives and the cares of this world. Go to God in prayer and bear yourself. Lay it all out before the Lord don't leave anything in your life. Become spiritually naked before the Lord just as the eagle becomes naked in the cave. The eagle then pulls out his claws; he becomes totally defenseless. In our prayer closet we need to pull out all of our defenses and get rid of them. God is going to talk to you and you must not rise up and defend yourself before God, he is not attacking you he is pointing out the faults and other things that you must get rid of in order to bring restoration into your life. While you are in this prayer closet you must accept everything that God tells you and deal with it without hard feelings or any anger. The eagle then breaks off his beak. During this time we must go into fasting along with the prayer. This is a time when we must be willing to give everything for the restoration that we are wanting.

So at this point you are naked, defenseless and hungry in your prayer closet waiting for the Lord to restore you in his power and grace. You cannot get in a hurry; if the eagle gets in a hurry he will become vulnerable to everything outside his cave. So you must wait on the Lord to accomplish what he wants to do. Do not start considering what is going on outside, just concentrate on what the Lord is doing inside. The Lord will get the sin out and replace it with himself and his word. He will replace your defenses with his defenses. Just as the eagles feathers and claws grow back so the Lord replaces what you got rid of with himself. When the eagle's beak grows back he is able to breath better and able to eat again. When the fast is over then we begin to breath celestial air and eat the word of God. At this point we are no longer on milk and massed up food but we become meat eaters and grow on the depth of the word of God not just surface eaters. We are at this point restored in God's power, wisdom and insight. We no longer have to depend on others but we depend on God himself and he comes through without fail. We see through the eyes of God. We do not get exhausted in the work of the Lord we now have his strength. The enemy lacks the strength to defeat us any longer. We are flying high in the presence of God.
