IF MY PEOPLE

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and will turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

There is a lot that can be said about this verse, but I am going to keep it short this time. Let's take a quick look at this verse.

If my people, which are called by my name, Who is he talking about? He is not talking about the Moslems, the Arabs, or the sinful world. He is talking about the Jews and the Christians. The Jews being his chosen people, descendants of Abraham and the Christians who were later selected and called Christians in the New Testament. To be called Christians means to be Christ like.

Shall humble themselves, we must remember that everything we do, we have been given the ability to do it by God and not by anything we have done. We must also recognize our failures and sins and remember that when we did these things we were acting in our own power and understanding therefore not following God's plan. We must repent in deep sorrow for these failures and sins and recommit our lives to the Lord, and start doing things his way, not our way.

And Pray, Praying is done by those who recognize that they can't do things on their own but they need help from someone bigger than they are. Prayer is a form of humbling one's self and yielding your will to this higher power God.

And seek my face; this is the act of diligently looking everywhere he might be to find him. This is not just a half-hearted looking but it is looking with everything inside of you. You can do this through studying his word and worshipping him and praising him.

And turn from their wicked ways, we must put away everything that is standing between you and God. The idols, your house, your bank account, your car, your hobbies, your Job. Quit doing what the world expects and start doing what the Lord wants. This way you can ask God for forgiveness, mercy and cleansing.

Then will I hear from heaven, when we have done the things that he has required then he will start hearing us when we pray and acting on our behalf, to forgive us, cleanse us and do what needs to be done. Including sending revival which is much more than shouting and running and jumping it is when the Spirit of God flows through the entire area convicting people of their sins and changing the whole area. When he acts people start seeking God who have not even thought about him in years.

I will forgive their sin and heal their land. Including but not limited to moral degradation and the falling apart of morality.
