Weep not for me

by beatrice ofwona

'.Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me, weep for yourselves and for your children'. Luke 23:28

As you think about the origin of Easter, you cannot help but shed tears for what Christ must have gone through to save you and me. You may even remember the way that the movie 'A Passion of The Christ' moved you and just like the women of Jerusalem, you may have wept through it all not realizing exactly what Christ accomplished for you at the cross. Christ now reminds you not to weep for him but for your ignorant self, firstly because you do not know God. Oh, you may know a lot of facts about God but what lacks in all this is how you relate to Him. When you call Him Jehovah Rapha, do you know you can speak healing into a situation? In the knowledge that you have of His in-dwelling presence, God desires that you know Him beyond the facts that you have gathered about Him.

It is more than writing about Him; it is being able to speak like Him and think like Him. It is done in the same obedience that the Son showed to the Father. Allow Christ to take you through the valleys, mountains and crooked paths because if you are a part of his flock, you will hear his voice through regularly and consistently studying the Word.

You may be giving much time to watching Television or playing Video games or maybe just reading books that do not help in building you up spiritually; this you should change. The bible tells you in Luke 6:45 that you speak from the overflow of your heart, therefore what you spend time on is what comes out when you interact with a situation. As such, fill your heart with God's presence by rising up early to read His Word and listening to what He is telling you. A prayerful life is one of victory for a Christian.

Secondly, you should weep for yourself and not for Christ because you do not understand the power of resurrection. Christ went to the cross so that you could be restored and reconciled to the Father. If only you knew the power of this resurrection through which sins that enslave you can be forgiven! You would surely have made the proclamation to other people that Christ was delivered for your sins and raised for your justification. The resurrection power raised Jesus from the dead and conquered all evil; once you know this, you too can tap from it and be freed.

God does not look at what you have, or at your qualifications. He sees a vessel in you that He can use but you must be willing and available no matter how unqualified you think you might be because His power is manifested in your weaknesses. This power of resurrection helps you to be an agent of Jesus Christ and enables you to gain the likeness of Christ as talked about in 2Corinthians 3:18.

Thirdly, weep for yourself because you have sometimes trampled Jesus underfoot by doing your own things. Hebrews 10:29 asks how severely you should be dealt with, you who have treated as an unholy the very blood of the covenant. This is akin to crucifying Christ all over again on the cross as told in Hebrews 6:6. If you cried at the thought of that first time you watched a crucifixion movie, imagine how much more you are now contributing to his pain as he looks at you disobeying our Father's commandments. Hebrews 26:27 says that if you deliberately keep sinning after you have received the knowledge of truth, no sacrifice for sin is left for you except an expectation of judgment.

Weep not for Christ my brothers and my sisters; weep for yourselves because Christ is coming to judge you.

May these words (sermons), from various men and women of God be a blessing to all.
