The Lord Is My Place Of Safety

by Cindie York

Psalm 91:1 Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

Those who live every day for the Lord will dwell in safety, knowing the Lord holds them safely in His arms. We can rest assured that we can trust our Savior with all things.

Show me the path where I should walk, Oh Lord; point out the right road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. (Psalm 25:4-5 NLT)

God will give us peace-I am leaving you with a gift-peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives. So don't be troubled or afraid. (John 14:27 NLT)

91:2 This I declare of the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I am trusting him.

He alone is God and I will trust him fully. Not with just the "small" things but with all things, in every area of life.

For the word of the Lord holds true, and everything he does is worthy of our trust. (Psalm 33:4 NLT)

So God has given us both his promise and his oath. These two things are unchangeable because it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, we who have to him for refuge can take new courage, for we can hold on to his promise with confidence. (Hebrews 6:18 NLT)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do and he will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT)

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the strength of my salvation, and my stronghold. (Psalm 18:2 NLT)

We depend on the Lord alone to save us. Only he can help us, protecting us like a shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we are trusting in his holy name. (Psalm 33:20-21 NLT)

91:3 For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from the fatal plague.

When we call on Him to help us, to rescue us from danger and harm, He hears our prayers and always comes through. He can heal any sickness or disease through faith.

Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mount Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever. Just as the mountains surround and protect Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds and protects his people, both now and forever. (Psalm 125:1-2 NLT)

The Lord bore 39 stripes before hanging on that old rugged cross. Each stripe believed to symbolize the 39 diseases from which every sickness originated. Each stripe placed upon him as he was beaten was for our healing. We don't have to accept any disease, sickness, or pain for we can claim Isaiah 53:5, But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him. And by His stripes we are healed. (NKJ)

91:4 He will shield you with his wings. He will shelter you with his feathers. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

He will cover us. He will be our shield against the enemy. He will protect us from the evils of this world. We can stand on His promises, because He is a God that doesn't lie. His words are true. He is forever faithful.

He is my loving ally and my fortress, my tower of safety, my deliverer. He stands before me as a shield, and I take refuge in Him. He subdues the nations under me. (Psalm 144:2 NLT)

He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. (Psalm 62:6-7 NLT)

91:5 Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor fear the dangers of the day,

Do not be afraid neither day nor night because God will never leave you nor forsake you.

"I will never leave you nor forsake you." That is why we can say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper, so I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?" (Hebrews 13:5-6 NLT)

I will call to you whenever trouble strikes, and you will answer me. (Psalm 86:7 NLT)

I will lie down in peace and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe. (Psalm 4:8 NLT)

I will bless the Lord who guides me; even at night my heart instructs me. I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for his is right beside me. (Psalm 16:7-8 NLT)

91:6 nor dread the plague that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday.

Do not worry about disaster or plagues. Cast your every care upon the Lord. Take your every burden to the Lord and He will carry them for you.

God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble. So we will not fear, even if earthquakes come and the mountains crumble into the sea. (Psalm 46:1-2 NLT)

The righteous face many troubles, but the Lord rescues them from each and every one. For the Lord protects them from harm-not one of their bones will be broken! (Psalm 34:19-20)

91:7 Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you.

Even if the situation looks bleak, do not worry or doubt the power of the Lord God. The evils have no power over you, for when you get saved, the Lord lives and dwells within you. Evil cannot harm you. No weapon formed against you shall prosper.

I am not afraid of the ten thousand enemies who surround me on every side. I lay down and slept. I woke up in safety, for the Lord was watching over me. (Psalm 3:6-5 NLT)

The wicked conceive evil; they are pregnant with trouble and give birth to lies. They dig a pit to trap others and then fall into it themselves. They make trouble, but it backfires on them. They plan violence for others but it falls on their own heads. (Psalm 7:14-16 NLT)

Even when I walk through the dark valley of death, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and staff protect and comfort me. (Psalm 23:4 NLT)

91:8 But you will see it with your eyes; you will see how the wicked are punished.

You will see the enemy destroyed, cast away, beaten, and definitely afraid. The enemy trembles at just the name of Jesus. As Christians, we have Christ living inside of us. The wicked will be punished. Judgment will fall and the ungodly will have to face the wrath of God. God said vengeance was His and He will fight our battles for us, He will repay.

The wicked draw their swords and string their bows to kill the poor and the oppressed, to slaughter those who do right. But they will be stabbed through the heart with their own swords, and their bows will be broken. (Psalm 37:14-15 NLT)

But the wicked will perish. The Lord's enemies are like flowers in a field-they will disappear like smoke. (Psalm 37:20 NLT)

God will make the sins of evil people fall back on them. He will destroy them for their sins. The Lord our God will destroy them. (Psalm 93:23 NLT)

91:9 If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter,

If you give your heart to God, and make Him ruler of your life, He will be your protection and your refuge through life's storms.

The Lord saves the godly; he is their fortress in times of trouble. The Lord helps them, rescuing them from the wicked. He saves them, and they find shelter in him. (Psalm 37:39-40)

91:10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your dwelling.

No evil, no plagues will overtake you.

No real harm befalls the godly, but the wicked have their fill of trouble. (Proverbs 12:21 NLT)

The way of the godly leads to life; their path does not lead to death. (Proverbs 12:28 NLT)

91:11 For he orders his angels to protect you wherever you go.

God sends His angels to encamp about us, wherever we are. The Bible says that God would lift up a standard against the enemy.

Angels are only servants. They are spirits sent from God to care for those who will receive salvation. (Hebrews 1:14 NLT)

For the angel of the Lord guards all who fear him, and he rescues them. (Psalm 34:7 NLT)

91:12 They will hold you with their hands to keep you from striking your foot on a stone.

The angels will hold you safely.

God sent an angel to Daniel in the Lion's Den when he needed protection and He will do the same for any believer who trusts in him when facing adversity. Daniel 6:22, My God sent his angel to shut the lion's mouths so that they would not hurt me, for I have been found innocent in his sight. And I have not wronged you, Your Majesty."

91:13 You will trample down lions and poisonous snakes; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet!

You will be given power through God Almighty to overcome any opposition that the enemy may throw your way, no matter the size.

In your strength I can crush an army; with my God I can scale any wall. (Psalm 18:29 NLT)

You have given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand supports me; your gentleness has made me great. You have made a wide path for my feet to keep them from slipping. I chased enemies and caught them; I did not stop until they were conquered. I struck them down so they could not get up; they fell beneath my feet. You have armed me with strength for the battle; you have subdued my enemies under my feet. (Psalm 18:35-39 NLT)

91:14 The Lord says, "I will rescue those who love me, I will protect those who trust in my name.

The Lord will rescue those who love Him and will protect those who trust Him. You show this by accepting the Lord as your Savior and living your life for Him. We must believe He is all-powerful, truthful, victorious, and omnipotent. We must believe that He can do all things, at all times. We must believe He will protect and work miracles on our behalf. We must have faith in the One True God.

I wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; my fortress where I will not be shaken. My salvation and honor come from God alone. He is my refuge, a rock where no enemy can reach me. (Psalm 62:5-6 NLT)

91:15 When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue them and honor them.

God will answer our prayers when we call upon Him. He will walk with us in every situation of life, both through trouble and sorrow and through times of great blessing and joy.

I am praying to you because I know you will answer, O God. Bend down and listen as I pray. Show me your unfailing love in wonderful ways. You save with your strength those who seek refuge from their enemies. Guard me as the apple of your eye. Hide me in the shadow of your wings. (Psalm 17:6-8 NLT)

91:16 I will satisfy them with a long life and give them my salvation."

The Lord has promised everlasting life to those who accept salvation. He promises us an eternity of no sickness, no pain, no crying, no worrying, no sadness, no hunger, no thirst, no dying, no poverty, and no darkness.

You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever. (Psalm 16:11 NLT)

And God, in his mighty power, will protect you until you receive this salvation, because you are trusting him. It will be revealed on the last day for all to see. (I Peter 1:5 NLT)

Day by day the Lord takes care of the innocent, and they will receive a reward that lasts forever. They will survive through hard times; even in famine they will have more than enough. (Psalm 37:8-9 NLT)

I have been a Christian for 23 years. I enjoy Bible study and growing in the knowledge of God's word. I literally want to soak up God's Word like a sponge.
