Have you ever risen to your feet to join in a round of applause? There are times when a soloist, vocal group, instrumentalists or choir transport us to glory land. A polite Amen or quiet hand clap will not suffice. We stand not only in recognition of their talent, but in praise and worship of our mighty God.
We almost feel guilty if we join in the singing of Standing On The Promises or How Great Thou Art from a seated position. Do you frequently sing contemporary chorus selections? We have in the past been members of churches where contemporary style music had been woven into the worship hours. I must admit I did not feel reverent as much as weary because we were expected to stand for an extended period of time.
I prefer to stand in spontaneous praise to our awesome God! "Let the whole earth tremble before the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. For He spoke, and it came into being; He commanded, and it came into existence (Psalm 33:8-9 HCS)." You can't sit down!
