Samson and Delilah
by Nellie Shani
6/15/2010 / Poetry
In the valley of Sorek met Delilah
With all his heart he did love her
Didn't know trouble was looming
As this affair was blooming
She was pretty as a flower
Refreshing as a spring shower
Samson let his heart lead him
Not knowing she would deceive him
The Philistines wanted him dead
He had made them live in dread
Approaching Delilah decided to use her
Promising her shekels of silver
Delilah immediately went into action
Using as bait his fatal attraction
On getting the silver she was bent
Sought the secret to his strength
Three times he deceived her
Keeping her away from her silver
She begged and nagged
Without sleep her eye lids sagged
Samson harassed to death
Told the secret to his strength
His hair since birth was never cut
For he was born to be a Nazirite
