It is easy to pass on our ministry responsibilities to a younger more energetic generation. We just do not have needed patience and persistence, and we believe we have earned our retirement to the back pew. There is plenty of work for all to do; God gifts each believer, young or old, in ways He knows are best. Take a deep breath and get back in the race!
Caleb recalled past promises of his land of inheritance, and reminded Joshua of his physical fitness to complete the task. (Joshua 14-6-15) "So here I am today, eighty-five years old! I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then. Now give me this hill country that the Lord promised me that day (Joshua 14:10b-12a NIV)." He felt adequate in his ability to face those opposed to God's people and plans. Yesterday, when I was young .Today, when I am old I am open to new adventures and service.
