Searching for Jesus

There are those in the world today
Who search for the historic Jesus.
Though they have God's Word to lead them,
They do not follow it.
Instead they seek to find Him
In the home where He lived on earth.
They seek thus to prove their own beliefs
That the Bible is not wholly true,
And Jesus is not God.

But if they would seek Him with their hearts,
They would find Him still alive.
Wherever in His name, believers gather,
Or deeds of mercy are done;
Wherever people come to Him
For rest for their souls
Or comfort for their grief;
Wherever there are those
Who hunger and thirst after righteousness,
There He is in their midst.

Jesus is God with us--
Yesterday, today, and forever.

Verna Cole Mitchell is a wife, mother, grandmother, and retired teacher, who is so grateful to God for all his blessings. Her desire is to honor God with her life and with her words.
