Do Not Disturb
by Pam Ford Davis 12/03/2010 / Devotionals
A gardener is as protective of growing flowers or crop, as a mother hen hovering over her young. They inspect their plants daily, often at daybreak and sunset, looking for signs of growth or trouble. If insects, worms or animal intruders have attacked, they begin planning methods of protection. They do not want their plants disturbed.
God sees the nation Israel and his church as a vineyard, in need of constant care and protection. Spiritual growth is his objective; in vigilance, he works the soil of love, waters with his Holy Spirit and feeds with his word.
His vineyard is a song of praise and glory! "On that day: A pleasant vineyard, sing about it! I, the Lord, am its keeper; every moment I water it. I guard it night and day so that no one can harm it (Isaiah 27:2-3 NRS)."
