Christ Filled CHRISTmas

There are many aspects of Christmas decorations that you either love or you hate: tinsel, Christmas trees, bauble and Father Christmases. But there is one type of Christmas decoration that time and again draws me back to its original meaning and that is the myriad bright twinkling lights we see in frosty windows and embracing finely decorated trees.

1 John 1:5 says this: "This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all." Now quite obviously, all physical light is not God - so let's not bow down to the fluorescent tube in our kitchens - but all spiritual, holy and revealing luminance is from God. One such luminance was the coming of the Messiah. Listen: "The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world," (John 1:9). Jesus Christ is the true light and John records the coming of this light at his birth.

Sadly, however, just a few verses prior to this verse in the gospel, John says something quite profound. He says, "The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it," (John 1:5). You see, the light that illuminated the life of God and the sin of man was born that first Christmas day, but the world rejected this light to remain in darkness. "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God-- children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God," (John 1:12-13).

We cannot look at the crib without seeing the shadow of the cross. Jesus was born to be saviour of the world. Just about 33 years after that first Christmas, he who was born in Bethlehem, died on a cruel cross in Jerusalem to pay the wages of sin; but the good news is, he rose from the dead to make a way for us to walk in the light of his life.

Perhaps you have heard this message many times before but always thought of it only as a Christmas tale. Why not make this Christmas the one to remember by making a choice to walk in the truth of God's light through asking Jesus into your life? Why not make this Christmas like no other. Make it a Christ filled CHRISTmas.

God-tracking is keeping your face toward the true CHRISTmas Light.

Have a good one.

Dudley

Turn My Darkness into Light

Psalm 18:28
You, O LORD, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.

Pray
"Dear God, I realise now that I need to walk in your light. For too long I have been living in the darkness of this world. I want to make this Christmas like no other by asking you to come into my life and illuminate my path by your word and presence. I choose to give myself to you and keep my eyes fixed on Jesus. Keep my lamp burning and help me to walk by your light. Forgive me for all that I have done that has been wrong in your eyes and help me to live to please you. Oh Lord, turn my darkness into light. Through Jesus I pray. Amen."
