Kicking and Screaming
by Pam Ford Davis 12/29/2010 / Devotionals
Are you a wrestling fan? My husband's Granny and Grand Daddy watched wrestling on TV while baby sitting our children. The wrestling matches were comical. Promoters hired colorful characters, dressed them in colorful attire and instructed them to fight it out in the ring. The defeated wrestler went down kicking and screaming, the winner raised his hands in victory and the announcer told the viewing audience the lineup for the next week.
Why do we resist God, go down kicking and screaming? "Let there be tears for the wrong things you have done. Let there be sorrow and sincere grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy. Then when you realize your worthlessness before the Lord, he will lift you up, encourage and help you (James 4:9-10 The Book/ Living Bible)." We fall down on our knees and repent; he lifts us up to a transformed life and tears become shouts of joy!
