I try to have a positive attitude, be optimistic and hopeful, but it is not always easy. The news and casual conversation with friends is far from encouraging. Our situation looks pretty bleak, gloom and doom are the norm and hope is fleeting. I must renew my mind with God's word and trust him to take control over our economy and future.
Farmers erase the slate. Bumper crops and drought disasters are past experiences. "Even though the fig trees are all destroyed, and there is neither blossom left nor fruit, and though the olive crops all fail, and the fields lie barren; even if the flocks die in the fields and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the Lord; I will be happy in the God of my salvation (Habakkuk 3:17-18 Illustrated Bible/ Living Bible)." Confidence is not in circumstances. Optimism is found in my relationship with the Omnipotent God!
