String Bean, a regular at the Grand Ole' Opry kept letters from home right next to his heart. He shared comical quips with audiences and brought back memories of folks back home. Communities, large or small reflect personalities of simple people with common interests and aims.
Have you wandered far from the nest? We are a mobile society, with many of us living a thousand miles or more from our place of birth. We enjoy letters, emails, texts and calls from our hometowns. "Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country (Proverbs 25:25 NRS)." Those that remain may not perceive the importance of frequent updates; the gift of a subscription to the local paper might do the trick!
