Joyous in the Memory

November's wind is more than
a gust of friendship

stroking river's bank
easing earth into a tumble
of nothingness

memory muddy as a scar
on a clean surface
the only sign it was ever there

reminding me a precious
love is so far away

images close by in the joy
of your smile; and God nearby.
