Dexter cattle are enjoying
September's pasture,
the herd of them
mooing and snacking
on grass,
lazy aside a large slough
and Canada geese
swooping as sun winks
at llamas raising pinched snouts,
accepting
feathery interruptions.
Life is sharing moments
even among animals,
as poplar leaves
abandon themselves to a tinkling
of joy--blending earth and sky,
just as God intended.
