An engraved invitation arrives in my mail and a feeling of expectancy and excitement heightens as I finger each raised letter. A friend, acquaintance or family member is holding a formal event and included me in their guest list; I am honored and pleased. RSVP is required; as common courtesy, I will notify them about my plans to attend and mark my calendar for the red-letter day.

Jesus extends his engraved invitation to you and me. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28 NIV)." Has the Lord engraved our names on a linen envelope? No, that would never do! "See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands (Isaiah 49:16a NIV). I accept His invitation!
