I have memories of long cold winter nights in central New York State. I did not experience the advantages of electric blankets until my last winter before I married and moved to the Deep South. As a child and young girl, our family used central gas heat to heat our home but our upstairs bedrooms were still cold. We relied on flannels sheets and piled on heavy blankets to keep us warm in sub zero situations.
I foolishly try to take care of myself and place my hopes in money and all it can buy. "Tell those rich in this world's wealth to quit being so full of themselves and so obsessed with money, which is here today and gone tomorrow. Tell them to go after God, who piles on all the riches we could ever manage-to do good, to be rich in helping others, to be extravagantly generous (1 Timothy 17-18 The Message)." When he piles on provisions and helps those left out in the cold, he warms me with his lavish love.
