Lord, when I'm feeling beaten,
when I feel trodden on and down
You promised I'd be a conqueror
and to give me victories crown.

And when I'm feeling bound up,
when my spirit is tied up in knots
You promised to be my deliverer
and to capture all my thoughts.

And when I'm feeling confused,
when my mind wanders about
You promised to be my counselor
and to rid me of all my doubt.

And when I'm feeling like a failure,
when my life is but a mess
You promised I'd be an overcomer
and to help me to onward press.

And when I'm feeling fearful,
when anxiety has me in a stew
You promised me Your power
and to give me a sound mind too.

And when I'm feeling lonesome,
when no one's listening to what I say
You promised to be a closer friend
and to be my companion along the way.

Lord, when I am in the darkness,
and the light draws dim and dark
You promised to be my lamp
and Your Word to be my spark!
