I recently attended a parade in our hometown; I must admit I was very impressed. I am not overly enthusiastic about viewing parades, have a "been there-done that" attitude. My Mom on the other hand always tuned in to the Macy's Thanksgiving parades while preparing our holiday dinners and raved about the San Antonio Fiesta parades. Marching bands always had spots in the annual events.
Band participants deserve a pat on the back for grueling hours of practice in inclement weather. Practice pays off in recognition and in viewer's smiles and waves. The members of school bands are in step with the blaring music and with one another. Am I in step with the Holy Spirit? "Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit (Galatians 5:25 NIV)." The smile of Jesus is all the reward I seek.
