Do you read the obituary columns? Recently, I read the death notice of a 104-year-old man in the Florida Panhandle. The highlight of the article was his marriage of 70 years; his bride had preceded him in death. Enduring love is rare and of priceless value. My Grandma and Grandpa Ford were married for 65 years at the time of her passing and Grandpa counted the days until being reunited. We yearn for the abiding foundation of love and truth in our relationships.
"PRAISE THE LORD, all nations everywhere. Praise him, all the peoples of the earth. For he loves us very dearly, and his truth endures. Praise the Lord (Psalm 117 Living Bible)." I cannot fathom his love and truth; he is righteous in all his ways and we are rebellious children. We are fickle yet he is faithful. We are selfish; he sacrificed his Son that we might pass from death to life.
"But God is so rich in mercy; he loved us so much that even though we were spiritually dead and doomed by our sins, he gave us back our lives again when he raised Christ from the dead-only by his undeserved favor have we ever been saved-and lifted us up from the grave into glory along with Christ, where we sit with him in the heavenly realms-all because of what Christ Jesus did (Ephesians 2:4-7 Living Bible)." I will continue to read obituaries and turn to the Lord's scriptures for strength and comfort. God's love and truth endures. Praise him!
