Christmas Doubts

by Don Knoll
12/21/2011 / Poetry

Some people shun the word "Christmas."
"It sounds like a chant from the past."
The intent was to honour our Savior
With Communion so Easter would last.

There's no Christmas joy without Easter.
There's no Easter without Friday's pain.
There's no Easter complete without hilltop,
And Ascension, the story is plain.

"Except you do eat of My body,
And drink of My precious blood.
You have no life in you," really
To strengthen our faith is its good.

We can just celebrate Jesus' birthday
Without thinking sad of His pain.
But the rest of the story's the best part-
"It is finished,"- and "He'll come again!"

Retired from farm, industry and office.
