Most infants and toddlers wait eagerly for their parents to pick them up into their arms and carry them wherever they need to go. Children endure confinement in infant seats, strollers and carriages but feel most content and secure when carried by mommy or daddy.
A day will come when the child is simply too large to carry. They may tease and whine but the parent asserts their authority. "You are too heavy; you can walk by yourself!" Growing up has its drawbacks; people expect us to do things for ourselves.
We are never too grown up as God's children. He still carries us. "even to your old age I am He, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save (Isaiah 46:4 (RSV)." He is bending down and lifting us up. Do not resist; He can carry you.
