"Been there, done that!"... It is most annoying to search for a specific address in unfamiliar surroundings. I rely on directions others have provided, proceed with caution, read street signs, numbers on mailboxes or buildings and anxiously hope to find my destination. I wrestle with thoughts of turning around and retracing miles I have already in trepidation, traveled. Often, I am tempted to give up when I am "almost there."
A religious leader of the law affirmed Jesus teaching on the greatest commandment. (Mark 12:28-33) Outward appearances would imply the man's wisdom on spiritual matters would offer easy access to God's kingdom. "When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, 'You are not far from the kingdom of God.' And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions (Mark 12:34 NIV)." True wisdom eluded the man; his heart, not intellect was the doorway to the kingdom.
