Battle Scars

Matt 10:24 24 The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. (KJV)

What a verse to start out the Easter Devotion with. The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord. What in the world could he have to say about that which would relate to Easter? Let's sit back and see where it goes.
Here Jesus is talking about just what he went through and what each believer is going to go through at some time in his life. We are to wise enough to be able to handle anything that is thrown at us but as gentle as lambs with no harsh remarks or strong actions to defend ourselves. Do you know how a lamb acts when he is stressed by a situation? A lamb does not try to defend himself that is the job of the Shepherd. So he just stands there most of the time to allow the shepherd to defend him. Jesus was the Lamb of God slain before the foundation of the world. Let's just see how they treated him. The religious leaders would verbally beat him up but Christ would come back on them so that they knew that they had nowhere to stand in the argument. Each time Christ would use the word of God. Jesus was never afraid of the religious rulers. He never was afraid of anyone that possibly had the ability to take his lifebecause he knew that they could not touch him until the time was right. When the time was right the battle would be on. Jesus fought one battle after another for salvation of the human race. The world had the right to know God's word. He was not afraid of the battle scars, because he had a cause worth fighting for.
There was a missionary from Africa told a story about two men talking one evening, one was white and the other was black. They were talking about apartheid which was the government name for racial segregation between 1948 and 1994 in which the minority white people ruled the majority black people.

The white man was saying I understand where you are coming from in your stand against apartheid but there is nothing that I can do about it to help you. I am afraid that I or my family will be beaten, our home destroyed or we may even be killed. I wish that there was something I could do. But you don't seem to be afraid at all, even with your scars, it seems that you have already been there. Why are you not afraid? The black man spoke up I may be beaten and my family may be killed but I have a reason to fightit is for our freedom. But you know even if I am killed when I stand before the Great Judge up there seeing what His son went through and he asks to see my scars. I don't want to stand there without any scars to hear him say, where are your scars? Was there not a reason to fight? Could you not find a cause to stand up and fight for? My son came down, fought and died for your salvation and you would not even fight to keep it?

Do you have a cause? Is there a reason to fight for Christ? Or do you just want to go along for the ride because you don't want to get yourself dirty? We need to find a reason to stand up and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ not just here in the church building but also out in the world. You are the only Bible that most of the world will ever read. Does your life tell the truth about Jesus Christ or is it just another fairy tale? Let's examine ourselves and determine just what our cause is and stand up for it. What happens if when we do stand before Jesus in the Judgment seat of Christ and he asks to see your scars will you have any to show him or will you shrink before him because you were to afraid to stand up and fight for anything? We have to take a stand now there is not much time left to find a cause to stand up for. Christ stood up and died for your salvation so you would not have to spend eternity in hell. What will you stand up and be willing to die for? Have you told your neighbor lately about what Jesus Christ did? What about the person you work with? Or the person you meet at the store? All of these are your neighbor. Will you be able to stand before Jesus Christ and say I did my best for you? Will he say well done or go away you buried your head in the sand and refused to take a stand for anything. Jesus Christ has his battle scars, Do You?
