Today we are bothered more by telemarketers and phone surveys than door-to-door salespersons and solicitation; yet, occasionally we do hear knocks upon our door. Maybe you have memories of selling Girl Scout cookies, Grit newspaper or Christmas cards door-to-door while growing up. Perhaps you were involved in canvassing an area for prospective church members. Hitting the streets and sidewalks is hard work, requiring patience, courage and a good measure of perseverance.
The Lord encourages us with a lesson on perseverance in prayer. "Ask, and you will receive. Search, and you will find. Knock, and the door will be opened for you. Everyone who asks will receive. Everyone who searches will find. And the door will be opened for everyone who knocks (Matthew 7:7-8 CEV)." We might get weak in the knees when knocking on doors of strangers, but are in need of falling upon our knees in persevering prayer!
