LEN'S LINES --A Little Religion With A Positive Note By Len Granger

Bridge Builder

When we think of all the bridges built in the history of the world, those constructed by the Roman Empire in Biblical times have stood the test of time. The bridge in Adana, Turkey, that still stands today with heavy traffic use, was walked upon by Apostle Paul on his journeys from his home Tarsus just 20 miles away. I was privileged to cross it many times while living in Turkey. It was built before the birth of our Lord and still carries heavy trucks and cars with two lanes each way.

Another bridge we all recognize is the London Bridge, a bridge that was a marvel in its time. As a kid we all played London Bridge Is Falling Down which likewise is a game that is now history. Another outstanding magnificent bridge that all the world knows well is the Golden Gate Bridge. It stands as a beacon of hope to the world and the western gateway to America. When growing up in Iowa as a country boy we visited the wooden covered bridges that are well known and we see in beautiful pictures. Most are no longer in use due to unsafe conditions of the wooden construction.

The greatest bridge builder of all time is our gracious and loving Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He built a bridge to heaven from two pieces of wood and three nails. By His dying on the cross. we are given an avenue to a heavenly home with our Lord Jesus for eternity. We see in the Bible. Luke, Chapter 22 Verse34, Then Jesus said, " Father forgive them, for they do not know what they do." and our Lord adds in Verse46, And He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it is necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead on the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

If we put our hope. trust, and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ and repent of our sins and are born again as a Christian, we can travel on the bridge to heaven our Lord has provided. It is not a bridge built by man that has structure weakness and becomes impassable with age. It is a heavenly bridge that the Lord uses to take us home when we die and leave our earthly body in the grave. To be absent of the body is to be home with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Trust each of us will be the church of our choice this Sunday worshiping our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

God Bless America
