GIFT OF GOD

If I praised God without ceasing twenty four hours a day
If I praised Him until I was very old and gray
It would not be enough to pay Him back
For saving my soul and that is a fact.

If I praised God on every mountain around the world
If I praised Him before every boy and girl
It would not be enough to pay Jesus back
For the stripes that He took upon His back.

If I traveled every highway and proclaimed His name
If I cried "Jesus" on every bus and train
It would not be enough to pay Him back
For that Bitter Cup He drank and that is a fact.

If I preached to every human upon the earth
And told them about His virgin birth
It would not be enough to pay Him back
For His death on the cross and that is a fact.

If I labored endlessly to help the hurt and the lost
If I led a billion souls to His cross
It would not be enough to pay Jesus back
For our sins that He bore as the sky turned black.

If I praised Him until time was no more
And finally stood with Him on Heaven's shore
I could never have done enough to pay Him back
That's why Salvation is a gift and that is a fact.
