Our grandson, at the age of eighteen, now towers above me. I look "up" to him and "back" to times when he was small and impressionable. When watching his favorite cartoons on television, or programs with Granny and Grand Daddy, he paid close attention to commercials. He believed advertiser's claims. Seeing the latest gadgets, and wanting me to have everything I needed, he'd say, "You need it!" If I had purchased every item he believed I needed, I'd need a money tree.
The Lord knows what I really need; material possessions do not top the list. They do not last. I might not see my great need for endurance; He does. "For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise: 'For yet a little while, And He who is coming will come and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith (Hebrews 10:36-38a NKJ)." I "need" endurance as I await His coming; through faith, I'll receive the promise.
