The Battle for "Me"

by Dennis Van Scoy
1/04/2013 / Poetry

In the village of "Me" on a dreary, damp day,
the work of recovery gets under way.
The tentacled beast that launched the attack,
has returned to it's lair yet feared to be back.

Terrified, inhabitants fall to their knees,
and beg their Champion to enter the trees;
'cause they know for certain the beast is hid,
in the thick, dark forest known as "the id".

Clad in full armor,. with sword in hand,
the Warrior's commissioned to free up this land.
He lights the dark places and drives out all woes,
spreading Sonlight wherever He goes.

As this Champion walks through the trees,
the dreary dampness feels a warm breeze.
At last once again clouds disappear,
and the fresh air of "hope" begins to draw near.

Soon the Hero confronts this foe,
long last confessed, with no where to go.
The long sharp tentacles that caused such
great pain, now tremble with fear as it loosens it's gains.

The Champion / Warrior raises His sword,
His double-edged blade proclaims HE is Lord;
and with each mighty blow He tightens His reign,
over the monster called "self" who once ruled this plain.

So if in your subconscious forest called "id",
this terror of self might also be hid;
confess it's presence, give it no where to go,
and the Spirit will conquer tho the process
be slow.

For Sonlight comes in through the rule of God's Word,
seen in our actions, not just what is heard.
Friend this is urgent,.make no mistake
we must reflect Jesus with each move that we make.

Surrender your all, give Jesus command
and He'll slowly drive "self" out of your land.
