Dear God-tracker

God-tracking is knowing God's plan will work out in the end

Paul and Barnabas had been traveling for some time together and had struck up a good relationship. Paul was the teacher and Barnabas was the encourager. Both had a part to play in the great scheme of God's purposes for the early disciples to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Some time after their first trip together when Paul suggested a second trip Barnabas wanted to take his cousin, John Mark along with them. Mark had travelled with them on the first trip but, for some reason, had deserted them halfway through so Paul was reluctant to take him along on the second trip. This caused a split between Paul and Barnabas. Barnabas took John Mark with him on an independent journey and continued to encourage this young man, while Paul took his new young prodigy, Timothy with him on his second missionary trip. What a tragic affair, you might say. But was it?

Barnabas, the encourager, continued to encourage and prophecy God's word where he travelled, with Mark close by his side. Mark then returned to Jerusalem where he was to sit at the feet of the apostle and leader of the early Church, Simon Peter. Mark was an educated and literate man so I like think that Barnabas encouraged him to sit under Peter's ministry and scribe the sermons and accounts of Peter's testimony of the story of Jesus. These writings were to later become known as the Gospel according to Mark.

Paul, the teacher, embarked upon his second missionary trip with Timothy by his side. They travelled far and wide preaching and teaching and planting churches. One church they planted was in Ephesus. Later Timothy was to return to Ephesus and take up oversight of that great church. Paul then began writing his famous epistles, which included his pastoral epistles now found in the Holy Bible, two of which include the Bible books of first and second Timothy.

A tragic rift between two great men (who were later powerfully reconciled) had led to the development of two great men of God and the writing of three powerful books of the Bible that still change lives today. On the outside it seemed that God's plan was being thwarted by Paul and Barnabas' disagreement but in the inside, God was at work. The One who knows the beginning from the end was carefully strategizing the lives of these men for his own supreme and wonderful purposes, turning and bad situation into something very good. Perhaps God is doing the same in your life today.

God-tracking is knowing God's plan will work out in the end.

Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Dudley

A Sample of Dudley's Fave Quotes

"I believe that God delights to use his children in the fulfilment of his plans for the world. I am sure he loves to use small people to do great things." --- Corrie Ten Boom

Don't Give Up, Look Up!
Look up and Fix Your Eyes on Jesus!

Do whatever it takes to lead me in your will

Pray:
"Lord, so often it seems as though my life is coming undone; like people are ganging up against me and opposing my every move. Other times it seems as though circumstances just don't seem to work out right. But I see today that you can take any situation in my life and turn it out for the good according to your plans for me. Lord, I submit to your plans and your purposes. Do whatever it takes to lead me in your will. Help me to trust you when things seem to go wrong, as I continue to acknowledge you in all my ways. Praise you Lord. Amen."
