Sweetbread Man

I met an old man, he was in misery and pain
He told me this story, he had nothing to gain
He said tell it to the world, I have nothing to hide
Comes storm or sunshine, I'll surely abide

I'm old and fat, I'm short and black
My knees are knobby, my poor back is cracked
I have heart trouble, my cholesterol is high
My thieving doctor tends me, his fees are sky high

I go to the market, I'm addicted to sweet bread
My need for them is great, my taste buds are almost dead
I rage at my foolishness, I scream and I shout
And yet tomorrow I'll do the same, Oh what a foolish lout

I'm beyond pity you think, and ready to die
But God in mercy, saved my worthless hide
He loves me for sure, and his grace is so pure
I wonder if in heaven, there's a sweet bread store

My life surrounds my music, the rhythms are sweet
I ball and I cry, but I'm a killer on my feet
I get up at night, I turn my music on
When everyone else is sleeping, I dance a pom pom

I bend to the left, and I shake it here,
I twist to the right, and I twirl it there
I move to the rhythm, I hum like a bee
I'm a killer on my feet, something you should see

I may be old and fat, I'm certainly short and black
As long as I have my music, I'm ahead of the pack
I wobble my belly, I gyrate my bum
Lord have mercy, I have so much fun

I dance all night, I dance until I'm sore
I pretend I'm the greatest, that ever took the dance floor
I move like a butterfly, I keep shaking my fat head
And when I get tired, I lay down and eat some more sweet bread.
