Hidden in my subconscious are implicit instructions from parents and teachers. I'd guess there was a perfect balance in what they told me to do, along with what they instructed me not to do. Their directions were specific and were not in pick-and-choose cafeteria style. Both parents and schoolteachers gave implicit instructions as they worked toward the goal of my maturity.
The LORD also works in and through implicit instructions. The Ten Commandments contain both shall and shall not, do's and don'ts. (Exodus 20) He works in and through His commands to mature and sanctify me. New Testament commands also fall along positive and negative lines. Jesus summarized the will of the Father.
"YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND.' This is the great and foremost commandment. And a second is like it, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF (Matthew 22:37b-39 NAS)." He is implicit; all is all-inclusive.
