I hate to bring up a sore subject, but how's that diet thing going? Most of us know we should shed those extra pounds. It's one of those round-to-its' that we mean to get out of the way but just can't master. It usually starts with a New Year's resolution; we start anew when we picture ourselves in swimwear. We rekindle the flame as we sense the arrival of Thanksgiving and Christmas. I've got a clue why dieting is so difficult to do.
The problem is in the word; it begins with die! We subconsciously believe we'll die without that extra desert or that we'll die on a restrictive counting of calories and regimen of rabbit food. I'll just die if I go to that all you can eat buffet and cannot go back for seconds. It will be the death of me if I have to limit myself to smaller portions and cut out fried foods. No wonder I fail when I go on a diet. I'm in a negative frame of mind before I even begin.
It's high time I switch to a positive mind set. I'm not on a diet; it's the "live it" for me. It's a life style not a slow death. My body is not my own. God holds the deed free and clear. I resist self-centered ways. "You should know that your body is a temple for the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is in you. You have received the Holy Spirit from God. You do not own yourselves. You were bought by God for a price. So honor God with your bodies (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NCV)."
