Heightened Expectancy

by Steve Countryman
1/03/2014 / Christian Living

Most of you have experienced it before some time in your life. You may have forgotten what it was like. It may have been so long ago that you can barely remember what it felt like. Most of the time it would happen when you attended a concert or performance. When you went to a sporting event or race. The air becomes charged with expectancy. Your anticipation of what is about to happen has been building to a crescendo. There is absolutely no doubt in your mind that something exciting is about to take place. Your full attention is directed at the front of the auditorium in high expectancy of something spectacular that is about to happen. At most events the promoters try their best to heighten the excitement through sound effects or music. They also will use an announcer to help build the excitement. At that moment your level of expectancy is at its maximum level. From that point on how you will react, enjoy and remember that event will depend on how the performance turns out.

You can once again experience that feeling but in a more spectacular and more meaningful way. In someone who will never let you down, give a bad performance or fail to show up. Someone who is as constant as the northern star and more faithful than the closest of relatives or friends. Someone who always knows how you are doing and cares about you. Someone who knows all of your faults, failures and flaws and still loves you deeply. Someone who desires a close and personal daily walk with His child, YOU! And you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars to go to a concert or sporting event to experience this level of heightened expectancy. It can happen to you at your church, at home, at work, at school or even in line at the grocery store. Ephesians 3:20-21 "20 Now to him who is able, (and willing) to do immeasurably more than all we ask, (think) or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."

Heightened expectancy is how we Christians are to react and respond to His Word, Father God, His Son Jesus and the Holy Spirit when we pray, praise and worship our Lord. To turn up our "expecter" full blast and walk in it daily! If we can learn to treat God and His ability to FULLY answer prayers with this type of heightened expectancy of faith and trust what would our eyes behold? What miracles, signs and wonders would we experience? How many people would come to know the Lord by our supernatural faith expressed through our heightened expectancy? In this type of faith doubt and fear don't exist. There is no doubt that God can and will answer our prayers. With a heightened expectancy of faith you see the finished work of your prayers and declare them out loud as part of your prayer and praise even before they are manifested in the natural.

Your heightened expectancy of faith is where your daily victory is found. It is where all the blessings of the Lord are received with thanksgiving. It is where all spiritual blessings are located. It is where deliverance, healing and restoration is experienced. It is where all power and authority of heaven resides in you, to you, with you, for you and through you through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit by God's awesome grace. Heightened expectancy is at the heart of God the father. It is part of His perfect, powerful and merciful love.

It is a level of expectancy where you can expect your God to bless you beyond measure, to open doors for you, to move on your behalf, to shower you with prosperity, to restore you , to heal you to empower you, to use you for His glory, to anoint you, to guide your steps, to give you wisdom, to heal those you lay hands on and those you don't, to cast out demons and raise the dead! Heightened expectancy that declares that your God is able and willing to do the unimaginable, the spectacular, the mind-blowing, powerful and awesome, the uniquely perfect, the outstanding and miraculous. And Father God will do this for you everywhere you go!

Heightened expectancy without doubt, without fear, without limitations, without restrictions, without hesitation and without conditions. There is assurance and confidence that you have in your God all the time with heightened expectancy. It is a level of faith that you walk in, function in, live in, exist in and move in. It is what Jesus experienced while He was here on earth and is how God performed all of the signs, miracles and wonders through Jesus. His relationship with Father God was so close that heightened expectancy of what God can do was a "given"! This is where we are to be in Christ Jesus and without it is why we fail as Christians. We are His witnesses and He is our testimony!
